Humor and play with others…at work? Sure thing! Please meet Dr. Heidi Hanna from The Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor.
Dr. Hanna has been featured at many national and global conferences, including the Fortune Magazine Most Powerful Women in Business Summit, ESPN Women’s Leadership Summit, and the Million Dollar Round Table. She is founder and Chief Energy Officer of Synergy, a consulting company providing brain-based health and performance programs for organizations, the Executive Director of the American Institute of Stress.

“According to the American Institute of Stress, 75-90% of all medical visits are stress related, and unmanaged stress costs US business upwards of $300 billion dollars due to lost productivity and sick days.”
Even further, “When we share humor and play with others, we build a stronger support network for ourselves, which also results in diminished fear of isolation, decreasing stress to more manageable levels where they can be perceived as challenges rather than threats.”
When we play and laugh during the work day with our co-workers we build a stronger support network. We ultimately feel less isolated and able to handle stressful situations in a positive manner as opposed to destructive. Heck, we may even come up with more creative solutions at work instead of whining about the load of work on the desk!
