Mindfulness Matters

Mindfulness is the ability to be fully present, to be aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not be overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us.

If life is a roller coaster ride, then Halloween represents the peak of that first big drop. We’re all buckled into the car, chugging upward, gradually inching closer and closer to that swift plunge which can leave us in wild delight or breath-stealing fright. Once Halloween rolls by, well, there’s two ways to deal with everything that follows – much like the amusement park ride.

  • Look at the Holidays and general merriment around you with hands up in the air and a grin on your face. Maybe even a squeal of laughter or two.
  • Focus on all the fuss and inconvenience with eyes squeezed shut, head down, and knuckles white from trying to hang on.

No matter what your typical reaction, we hope this is the year you find ways to practice mindfulness. Really see what is all around – both the joy and the hustle – and be able to appreciate it all. After all, mindfulness is a ride we all want a ticket for.
